PETER PUCCI PLUS DANCERS
Peter Pucci Plus Dancers is:
An approach to modern dance that bridges the worlds of theater, athletics and the arts.
A commitment to making dance and the performing arts accessible to diverse audiences.
Peter Pucci, Artistic Director and Founder, was a principal dancer and choreographer with Pilobolus Dance Theater for nine years before launching his own company. He has created a vast repertory of pieces for Peter Pucci Plus, including many works with commissioned scores.
A Pucci Plus season has included tours, engagements in or near New York City, presentations of new choreography, and educational workshops in schools, colleges or festivals. Pucci Plus has enjoyed six successful engagements at The Joyce Theater in New York City, and made its Broadway debut at the New Victory Theater. Pucci Plus has performed on television and in theaters, schools, opera houses, outdoor festivals and industrial shows throughout the U.S. and Europe.
One of Pucci’s greatest strengths as a choreographer is his ability to spark an interest in dance among diverse audiences. His work is imbued with a sense of athleticism and humor that, combined with a keen and thoughtful vision and a true integration of music and dance, makes his work appeal to a wide range of ages and backgrounds – both for dance novices and dance aficionados. He recognizes the power of music to engage, and his taste in music runs from Mozart and Rachmaninoff to Tommy Dorsey, Prince and k.d. lang. Pucci thrives on collaboration and greatly enjoys the combination of live music and dance. He has worked closely with many composers and musicians and has commissioned new scores from Nana Simopoulos, Marc Farre, Michael Wolff, Brent Michael Davids and Sloan Wainwright.

What the Critics Say…
“Mr. Pucci likes to make moving bodies create clear shapes in space that can be ingenious, witty, surprising or poignant. Pucci’s witty choreography makes dances out of everything from human foibles to basketballs to Hula Hoops. Something for dancegoers of all ages.”
— The New York Times
“Nothing short of dazzling!”
— Dance Magazine
“Peter Pucci shows his diversity, deft handling of music and his ability to coordinate lighting and costumes to his movement needs. An uncommonly good evening of dance theatre. He has honed his skills well and refinement and good taste are clear in his work. Stark definitive structural patterns are clearly drawn in the group pieces, and in his solos come great humor and character.”
— Backstage, NYC
“Pucci’s choreography speaks with an individual voice. Gifted with an eye for imagery and an ear for music, he creates dances of clearly defined shapes and flowing rhythms… Something for everyone… lyrical abstractions and intense drama, comedy sketches and prop pieces”.
— Cleveland Plain Dealer
“Peter Pucci’s modern dance lineage is among the strongest anywhere. Having spent nine years as a principal with Pilobolus, he ventured forth independently and has hardly paused since. Pucci’s gifts are diverse enough to support all sorts of concentrations… Plenty of sass and splash.”
— Louisville Courier Journal
“…the ultimate in entertainment.”
— The Buffalo News
